The German Mine Surveyor Association (Deutscher Markscheider-Verein e.V. - DMV) announces the
XV International Congress of the ISM in Aachen - Germany in 2013.
The congress will be held in conjunction with the National Conference Energy and Raw Materials 2013 (EuR).

Congress Topical Subjects
The XV International ISM Congress and the EuR National Conference are scheduled to address the following subjects:
- Instruments and Measurements (e.g. GNSS, InSAR), GIS and Mine Mapping
- Geometry of Mineral Deposits, Mineral Resources Management and Planning Tools
- Prediction and Monitoring of Rock and Ground Movements and Subsidence
- Environmental Planning and Sustainability in Mining
- Mining Closure, Development of Abandoned Mines and Economic Transformation of Mining Regions
- Mine Water Management during and after Production Period
- New Energies and Developments (e.g. Conventional and Unconventional Gas, Geothermal Energy, Carbon Dioxide Capture and Storage-CCS)
- Education and Legal Issues in Mine Surveying
Official Languages
The official language of the ISM International Congress is English. All papers should be submitted in English.
Regarding the official languages of the ISM, papers could also be submitted in Russian. During the congress a special session for papers in Russian language will be organized.
The official language of the EuR National Conference is German. All Papers should be submitted in German. Papers submitted in English will be integrated into the ISM International Congress.
Presentations
All accepted papers will be presented by registered authors during sessions sorted to the congress subjects. Other papers can be displayed during poster sessions. All presentations should be held in the official languages and posters should be submitted in English.
Additionally workshops will be held within the National EuR Conference in German.
Submission of Papers
Participants of the ISM International Congress are invited to submit papers related to the scientific subjects of the Congress in English or Russian to the ISM Presidium Member of their country.
The ISM Presidium Members representing their country will organize the qualification of the papers in their country based on the qualification form accepted by the ISM Presidium Members.
Where the country of an author is not represented by ISM, the paper should be sent directly to the Congress Scientific Committee.
Qualification requires:
- It is new in theory
- It is new in practice
- It can be published in the Proceedings of the Congress
The Congress Proceedings will be provided on the Congress on a suitable electronic medium. Printed editions will be available on extra charge.
Participants of the National EuR Conference are invited to submit papers in German or English to the Congress Scientific Committee.
Only papers that qualify will be accepted for presentation and/or publication at the Congress.
Deadlines
Submission of abstracts is December 01, 2012. ! Extended to February 15, 2013 ! Closed
Submission of full papers is May 17, 2013.
Author Instructions
Author guidelines for the format of papers will are available on the ISM 2013 Congress Website. Russian speakers are requested to translate presentation slides into English. This will enable presentation in Russian to be followed by English speaking participants. All papers should have a title and abstract in English.
The following strict rules apply to the format of abstracts:
- Text: In English, max. 150 words, separated by a blank line, Arial, font size – 10 pt., single spaced, justified (to the side-margins)
- Margins: top – 2.5 cm, bottom – 2.5 cm, left – 2.5 cm, right – 2.5 cm
- Title: Arial, in bold type, font size – 14 pt., single spacing and central positioning, the first letter is upper-case (capital letter)
- Subtitle: Arial, in bold type, font size – 12 pt., single spacing and central positioning, the first letter is upper-case (capital letter)
- The authors name, organization and country/nationality below the title/subtitle, separated by a blank line, Arial, font size – 10 pt.
- Key words: 3 to 4 words, separated by a blank line, Arial, font size – 10 pt.
The XV International ISM Congress will take place from 16 - 20 September 2013 in Aachen, Germany at the EUROGRESS Convention Centre.
In the beautiful city of Aachen, Europe is more than a mere word. Here Europe is alive! In the immediate vicinity to The Netherlands and Belgium, people are used to meet each other across the "borders" and to work in cooperation with each other. This attitude has shaped the city and has made its people more open to others.

International airports Cologne (CGN) and Duesseldorf (DUS) are located 70 m resp. 90 km from Aachen; both are well connected to the railway track. Social Events and Technical Tours
Social events are planned to be offered during the congress for attendees and accompanying persons. Technical tours will take place on Friday September 20, social and cultural during the congress.
